Peter Schinkai

Attorney

Peter Schinkai is the founder of Schinkai Law. He has dedicated his work by specializing in personal injury cases, worker's compensation injuries, and Social Security Disability law. Peter first became aware of these fields as a child, dealing with deaths in his family related to personal injury and the negligence of others. He went to law school at Michigan State University and has dedicated his legal career to protecting the rights of the injured and underrepresented.

 

Prior to his work as an attorney, Peter was a journalist and business owner. He was the part-owner and President of both Midwest Entertainment Sports, a regional sports network based in Michigan, and the Toledo United Football Club, a minor league soccer team based in Ohio.

Laura Foerster

Attorney

Laura Foerster comes to Schinkai Law with almost 50 years of experience in healthcare and law.

Ms. Foerster received her Associate Degree in Nursing in 1977. She obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing through Indiana University in 1983. In 1990, Ms. Foerster graduated from Thomas M. Cooley Law School. In 1994, Ms. Foerster received her Associates in Healthcare Quality and Risk Management through Lansing Community College. In 2018, she obtained her Masters’ in Nursing Education.

Ms. Foerster is a licensed RN in Indiana. She is also a licensed attorney in Michigan, admitted to practice in the Western District of Michigan. Ms. Foerster is also a member of several tribal courts in Michigan.

Ms. Foerster is a member of the American Indian Law Section and the Healthcare Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan.

She is married with two grown daughters. She resides outside of Traverse City, where beauty surrounds her on a daily basis. In her spare time, she enjoys quilts and baking.

Lisa Gray

Of Counsel Attorney

Lisa Gray is a Michigan attorney with more than fifteen years of experience fighting for individuals and families. Her practice is driven by a core belief that justice should be accessible to everyone and that clients deserve strong, principled advocacy when they need it most.

Ms. Gray represents clients in personal injury and civil litigation matters, drawing on extensive courtroom experience and an ability to manage complex, high‑stakes cases. She has managed cases across a wide range of legal forums including state, federal, and Tribal Courts, and has successfully advocated for clients facing complex legal disputes, serious injuries, and systemic barriers to justice.

She is committed to combining meticulous legal work with compassion, respect, and a relentless focus on results. She strives to ensure her clients have a clear path forward, both inside and outside of the courtroom.
